  1. hi mark, 2 of my favourite albums this year were metric and midlake and it was great to see the return of skunk anansie. i was wondering what you thought of the Fall album as it doesnt appear on your list and i know you're a big fan. i absolutely loved it, probably my favourite album this year. another album i really liked was by the Dum Dum Girls, kind of remind me of Lush a bit.

  2. Hi John. Thanks for the post. I hope you and the family are all well. I loved The Fall album, but the list on the blog is made up of favourites from all members of the collective (12 in total). Therefore, I could only squeeze my top 5 in there.

I actually went to see The Fall the other week in Holmfirth. They did a 40 minute set. Considering their back catalogue, I would have expected a little more, but I suppose that's the risk you take when going to see them live.

I will check out the Dum Dum Girls on Spotify this weekend.

  3. Hi Mark,
another album i loved in 2010 was IRM by Charlotte Gainsbourg. I guess my top 5 for the year would be :-
    1) Fall - Your Future Our Clutter
    2) Charlotte Gainsbourg - IRM
    3) Dum Dum Girls - I Will Be
    4) Midlake - Courage of Others
    and my late contender..
    5) Jenny and Johnny - I'm Having Fun Now

Other than that i'd have a hard time naming many more albums that i really loved, Metric would be one but thats cheating as the 2010 release is a re-issue from 2009 :D
Love the blog though, i look up and try to listen to most of the bands you mention on here.

  4. Hi John

It's good to see you're still keeping abreast of the music scene at your age. I too liked the Midlake album, and am a huge fan of Jenny Lewis, but not got round to listening to her new album as yet.

Thanks for checking out the blog. I'm always looking for contributors if you're interested.
